Union Congregational Church is a community gathered in the name and presence of the Risen Lord, Jesus Christ, seeking to live our lives guided by the power and inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
The love that Jesus Christ taught and modeled compels us to care for Creation through: stewardship of our environment, seeking justice for those oppressed, and being God’s mercy and grace towards one another in our interactions and relationships. As image bearers of our Creator, we are a faith community where everyone belongs and everyone is invited to share their gifts, talents, and insights in our worship and in manifesting God’s love for Creation.
We believe God is calling Union Congregational Church to be a nurturing fellowship that empowers persons in our community to know Christ and make Him known.
Christ’s love compels us to promote personal spiritual growth through relationships of mutual love and accountability, outreach involving direct contact with people, creative experiences of worship, prayer, and biblical teaching, and leadership that empowers the church to accomplish its mission.
Experiencing God's love as revealed by Jesus Christ in scripture and illumined by the Holy Spirit.
Learning how to reflect that love in our daily interactions.
Welcoming everyone as we share our life together.
Worshiping God, praying, and seeking to nurture each other, our neighbors and our world.
Desiring respect, justice and mercy for all people.
Pursuing peacemaking, reconciliation, environmental stewardship, and equity in the moments of our every day.
Valuing the gifts, talents, and insights contributed by each individual in our congregation.
Striving for integrity, equity, collaboration, and transparency as we share leadership between congregants, lay leaders and pastoral staff.
Through Jesus Christ’s example and teachings in Scripture, our congregation seeks a relationship individually and communally with our unconditionally loving God. Our primary mission, summarized by Jesus, is to love God, others, and ourselves. We seek spiritual growth, characterized by humility, transformation of heart and mind, and service to others.
Through Jesus’ admonition we endeavor to avoid religiosity characterized by external appearances and practices, rigidity in theology leading to judgment of others, and codification of Scripture that limits our understanding. Enabled by the Holy Spirit, we seek to be agents of God’s desire stated throughout Scripture for justice, equity, and communal flourishing.
